Langford Market, one of San Antonio’s newest and chicest boutiques, is hosting its one year anniversary this Thursday, Dec. 1st, at its La Cantera location.  From 6-9 p.m., Langford Market will celebrate its birthday by offering $100 off of every $200 purchase.  During the celebration you can sip on a cocktail while shopping, enjoy some snacks, and get helpful styling tips from Langford staff.  Visible Changes will also be at the celebration sprucing up shoppers’ hair with holiday tinsel.

If you have never had the pleasure of visiting Langford Market, and if you like the feel of a high fashion boutique with the luxury of affordable prices and great deals, now is the time to take the trip to La Cantera and shop.  Comparable to favorites like Anthropologie and Francesca’s, Langford Market offers fashionable dresses, blazers, and blouses alongside beautiful jewelry pieces and accessories.  Also in the store are refurbished antique furniture pieces that are unique and that would easily add character to any home.

One of the perks to the boutique style shopping at Langford Market is the exclusivity of the products.  At the store there are only six pieces of every clothing item ordered, and no item is ever re-stocked, no matter how popular the item is.  Every week Langford gets new items in, allowing the store to order items that are season appropriate and allowing us shoppers a greater excuse to expand our wardrobe.

Presently, Langford Market is helping out Toys for Tots and is offering 25% off to customers who bring in a toy for donation.  Also, customers can take advantage of the buy two clothing items, get the third for one dollar promotion that is also presently running.  One of my favorite weekly specials is the Wine Wednesday promotion from 5-9 p.m., where shoppers can drink some wine and enjoy 25% off of their happy hour purchase.

Over the last few months I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about designer Richard Eric Renteria and his innovative clothing line.  With his customizable preppy clothing he brings back memories of sock hops and old school glamour, focusing on the roaring 20’s all the way to the anti-war movement of the 1960’s.  Named Etiquette Vintage Design, Renteria decided that his designs would reference the etiquette of the olden days; elegant and classic.

A University of Texas alum and Austin native, Renteria became inspired by old yearbook photos from the 1930’s.  Seeing the ties on the young men and the well groomed hair styles on the young women, he realized that the old school Hollywood glamour was far from present in our culture.  Luckily, the younger generation will now have the pleasure of experiencing such old world glamour with a hint of school yard pride thanks to him.

Recently, Donald Glover of the NBC television series “Community” contacted Renteria to design some looks for him.  Glover is known as a male fashion icon, even posing for well known ad campaigns with the Gap.  His look now includes the preppy cardigan sweaters that Renteria designs.

For the up-coming collection, Etiquette Vintage Design will expand to include blazers and dresses.  Still focusing on the 1920s-1960s style, the collection will also feature the staple cardigans and sweaters as well.  On Aug. 22 from 6-9 p.m., Blo, North America’s original blow dry bar, and Etiquette Vintage Design will be hosting a Blo-Out Celebration of Hair and Vintage Fashion during Austin Fashion Week.  Admission to the show will be free.

Looking into the past has always seemed to work for the fashion world, bringing back styles and modifying them for our delight.  Prada did just that with their Spring/Summer 2011 collection by bringing back the 1950′s and early 1960′s cat eye frames.  All I can say is…love!

Jorts supplies

I was able to cut through the jean pretty easily with the scissors and the jean made a really clean fray, so in the future I determined that I can wear them rolled or unrolled.  I prefer to keep them rolled just for a bit of a cleaner look, especially with the black jean.
